MADISON General Insurance Company Zambia Limited (MGen) will provide a Third Party Liability insurance cover worth K100 million for the 32nd Zambia International Rally that revs off at InterContinental Hotel in Lusaka on Friday afternoon.
The rally is the penultimate round of this year’s six-event FIA African Rally Championship (ARC) after the Kobil Rally of Tanzania, KCB Safari Rally Kenya, KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally and KCB Mountain Gorilla Rally.
MGen Deputy General Manager Underwriting, Prince Nkhata said when he presented the cover note to Zambia Motor Sports Association (ZMSA) vice-president Sam Ching’ambu this morning at Madison House in Lusaka values the rally.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I have now the pleasure to announce that MGen is once again going to provide Third Party Liability insurance cover worth K100 million for this year’s Zambia International Motor Rally.
With these remarks, on behalf of MGen, I wish the drivers success in this year’s International Rally,” Nkhata said.
He said MGen, a subsidiary of the Lawrence Sikutwa & Associate Group (LSA), has been associated with motorsport for a long time.
“The company’s involvement with motorsport started with provision of Group Personal Accident Insurance many years ago.
From provision of insurance cover to rally drivers, the Group extended support to Muna (Singh) – who you will agree with me has brought a lot of glory to Zambia through the many regional and international awards he has won.
Lately, the assistance to Muna was extended to Mohammed Essa, a youthful enterprising and promising upcoming ace rally driver who is also the reigning Zambian champion,” he said.
He said under its corporate social responsibility programme, MGen all supports soccer, rugby, golf polo cross and volleyball.
Ching’ambu thanked MGen for the gestured and assured the company that the ZMSA and the rally organising committee would deliver a successful rally.
Receipt for entries has been closed and three foreign drivers, Jamie Whyte, the African champion and Big Chitima both from Zimbabwe as Giancarlo Davite from Rwanda have met the cut.
The locals are Abdalla Hamad, Ashish Petal, Azim Ticklay, Dani Beaini, Essa, Geoffrey Chulu, Jassy Singh, Ken Mukosa, Muna, and Paul Monge. - ZMSA
