National Rally Championships Enters Round 4 This Weekend

THE National Rally Championship enters round four on Sunday at Silverest area near the Barn Resorts in Lusaka.
Veteran and championship leader, Paul ‘Poncho’ Monge behind the wheels of Subaru Impreza N12B will be hoping to extend his lead over second placed Ashish Patel driving a Subaru GC8.
Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) Rally Commission Steward, Max Malauni said the 160 kilometres long rally would feature nine stages at Bonanza, Bull, Chartonnel, Lusaka Motor Club and Waterfall.
Malauni said in an interview in Lusaka today in Lusaka that Bonanza, Bull, Chartonnel and Waterfall would host two stages each while the two kilometre Lusaka Motor Club twister would host the rally’s closing stage.
He said route reconnaissance (recce) would be held on Saturday morning while documentation and scrutineering is scheduled for the same day in the afternoon at the Action Auto truck yard in Thornpark Township.
Champion, Muna Singh is expected to return to action after missing the third round which was won by Monge in Fringilla, Chisamba where Mohammed Essa retired his Madison Subaru N11 with a kilometre before the end of the rally.
Monge, who last won the national championship in 2004, has two victories and a second-place finish from the last three rallies.
Essa grabbed the other win after finishing third behind Zimbabweans Conrad Rautenbach and Jamie Whyte in the Zambia International Rally.
Other notable drivers expected t enter the rally are Azim Ticklay, Dani Beaini (both Toyota Landcruisers), Geoffrey Chulu (Toyota Corolla RSi), Imran Ticklay, Mohammed Taib, (Subaru N10s) and Jassy Singh (VW Golf 2). (c)ZMSA
