ACCOUNTING firm, Reliance Chartered Accountants Zambia, which is part of HLB International, has unveiled a K8 million sponsorship package for this year’s Zambia International Rally that revs off next week on Friday at Inter-Continental Hotel in Lusaka.

The 476-kilometer long Zambia International Rally, which is in its 32nd edition and is expected to attract 20 entries, is the penultimate round of this season’s six-event FIA African Rally Championship (ARC).

Reliance Chartered Accountants Zambia audit & grow-how partner Shuko Ndhlovu said at a press briefing this morning at Inter-Continental Hotel that K4 million of the total package was cash and the other half was in material form.

Ndhlovu said the sponsorship to the Zambia International Rally was part of his company’s corporate social responsibility programme.

He said Reliance Chartered Accountants is a dynamic company that wants to grow its business by partnering with equally vibrant entities like the Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA).

“As per of our social responsibility, we have decided to partner with the Zambia Motor Sport Association. We have been in existence for four years and we want to grow with organisations like motorsport because we believe in speed,” he said.

ZMSA vice-president Sam Ching’ambu said companies like Reliance Chartered Accountants would help the Zambia International Rally organising committee run the event professionally.

Ching’ambu thanked Reliance Chartered Accountants for the sponsorship and said he was optimistic that 20 entries would make it for the rally following the latest figures that has 10 local crews and three foreign teams.

“As the committee and association, we will make sure that we deliver the best rally. We are grateful that you (Reliance Chartered Accountants) have come on board and joined the motorsport family,” he said.

Zambia International Rally organising committee member in charge of finance Dyson Mweene has so far raised K350 million, both in material support and cash, from various entities and individuals.
