Reeve Scoops Endurocross Round One Regional Championship
By Ignatius Mazeko
NATIONAL motorcycle sport ace David Reeve yesterday made a winning return to Off Road racing after scooping the Endurocross First Round Regional championship Senior Open class at Leopards Hill Motopark in Lusaka.
Husaberg 450-mounted Reeve, who was rocked by injuries last season, made full use of the absence of injured rival Brian Cocker of Chisamba to triumph over Lusaka’s Dustin Fussel on board a Honda 450.
Cocker, who won the 2009 Enduro national title, is nursing a long term injury having broken his leg during the Baboon Lesotho Sun ‘Roof of Africa’ in November last year.
Reeve said at the track after his triumph that his wrist was less painful than the last time he broke it.
This was KTM 300-mounted Lusaka rider Robert Marsden followed by townmates Barret Maddocks, Jonathan Marshall on a KTM 520 and Mazabuka’s KTM 300 mounted Marcus Pieterse.
The Quads Class was scooped by Lusaka’s Michael Venn, who got the checkered flag ahead of townmates Carsten Kruger, his wife Michelle Kruger and Christiaan Barnard.
In the Junior classes, KTM-mounted Philip Chalcraft of Lusaka won the 85cc class ahead of Bjorn Dahl, Joseph Kruger and Marius de Bruin while Leah Heygate, who edged her sibling Scott, claimed the 65cc class
The Endurocross Second Round Regional championship is set for February 28 at Mindolo Dam Motopark in Kitwe but a fortnight before that will be the Motocross National championship at Leopards Hill Motopark in Lusaka on February 14. ©ZMSA
